    Fasawfa yuhaasabu hi saabai yaseeraa

He will be judged with an easy account

And [by] the moon when it becomes full

  19. 19

    Latarkabunna tabaqan 'an tabaq

[That] you will surely experience state after state.

  20. 20

    Famaa lahum laa yu'minoon

So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

  21. 21

Wa izaa quri'a 'alaihimul Quraanu laa yasjudoon

And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?

  22. 22

    Balil lazeena kafaroo yukazziboon

But those who have disbelieved deny,

  23. 23

    Wallaahu a'lamu bimaa yoo'oon

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

  24. 24

    Fabashshirhum bi'azaabin aleem

So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

  25. 25

Illal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum ajrun ghairu mamnoon

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.

1. Introduction to Surah Al-Inshiqaq

Surah Al-Inshiqaq is the 84th chapter of the Holy Quran, consisting of 25 impactful verses that beautifully describe the transition from this worldly life into the hereafter. The name of this chapter, Al-Inshiqaq, translates directly to "The Sundering," "The Splitting Open," or "The Bursting Asunder." This powerful name is derived from the very first verse, which paints a vivid picture of the heavens tearing open on the Day of Judgment. This imagery serves as a profound reminder of the absolute majesty, power, and ultimate authority of Allah over the entire universe.

Revealed during the early Makkan period, this beautiful chapter was sent down during a time when the early Muslim community faced intense opposition and skepticism from the polytheists of Makkah regarding the reality of resurrection. Surah Al-Inshiqaq addresses these doubts directly by shifting the reader's focus toward the unavoidable cosmic shifts that will take place when this worldly realm comes to an end. It reassures believers that their patience and struggles in this life will not be in vain, while simultaneously delivering a gentle yet firm warning to those who deny the divine truths of the Creator.

2. Key Themes and Lessons of Surah Al-Inshiqaq

Understanding the core messages of this chapter helps us appreciate its profound guidance for mankind. Here are the central themes highlighted in Surah Al-Inshiqaq:

  • The Obedience of the Cosmos: The chapter opens by illustrating how the sky and the earth submit perfectly to the command of their Lord. Unlike humans, who have been granted free will, the physical universe obeys Allah instantly and without hesitation.
  • The Inevitable Journey to the Lord: A central theme is that every single human being is actively striving and toiling through life, moving step by step toward an ultimate meeting with Allah. No one can escape this final rendezvous.
  • The Distribution of the Records: The Surah divides humanity into two distinct groups on the Day of Judgment based on how they receive their record of deeds. Believers will receive their book in their right hand, signaling a joyful and easy accounting, while disbelievers will receive it behind their backs, signaling regret and despair.
  • The Law of Constant Progression: Allah swears by the twilight, the night, and the gathering of the moon to show that human existence moves through continuous phases—from life to death, and then to resurrection.
